Appomattox swimmers set school records, qualify for state championships

The Appomattox Raiders swim team traveled to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center on Monday, Feb. 10, to compete in the Class 1/2 Region C Swim Championships, with the boys team placing fourth, and the girls seventh.

Additionally, three Appomattox County High School swimmers individually qualified for the State Class 1/2 Championship meet, which takes place on Feb. 20 in Richmond.

Catherine Thomas (girls 100-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Butterfly) and Charlie Drinkard (boys 100-yard Backstroke) set ACHS swim records while qualifying for the state championships.

Also qualifying for states were Bennett Goodman (boys 100-yard Butterfly) and both the boys and girls Medley Relay teams.
