The pumpkin season is fast approaching its end for Dark Leaf Farms in Appomattox.

Joanne Jones, the woman behind the farm operation, said her farm sees around 20 different school groups during the pumpkin season. Her farm provides a tourist attraction for the area with its pumpkin patch, corn maze, hayrides and games fitted around the autumn season.

The K-4 through second-grade students of Cornerstone Christian Academy were one such group. They hit the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago, each student in search of the perfect pumpkin. Their visit to Dark Leaf Farms was about three hours long, accommodating for pumpkin picking and other activities on the farm.
