Appomattox Sheriff's Office offers assistance to senior citizens

Appomattox County Sheriff Donnie Simpson today released an announcement in regard to helping senior citizens in the county amid the coronavirus pandemic. The press release reads as follows:

In an effort to serve the most vulnerable citizens in this time of a County Emergency I am enacting the following program:

I have reached out to the Department Of Social Services to identify Senior Citizens that do not have the resources to pick up prescriptions and essential grocery items. Since the county schools are closed, I will use the School Resource Officers to facilitate delivery of groceries ordered online and much needed prescriptions. We will continue this program through the state of emergency as long as we have the personnel resources to do so.

If you, or you know of someone that can benefit from this please call SGT. Karen Nipper at (434) 352-2666 for more details.
