Horseshoe Road wreck injures one

Just before 3 p.m. today, a one-vehicle accident occurred in the vicinity of 2826 Horseshoe Road in Appomattox County.

One man reportedly sustained a head laceration in the wreck. The man was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital by the Appomattox County Rescue Squad. No other individuals were in the vehicle.

The injured man was driving a blue four-door 2017 Ford Edge when it veered off the road to the right and crashed into a wooded embankment. Heavy damage to the front passenger side was sustained, including the fender and part of the hood. The man's airbag had deployed.

The man's name is Bobby Roach, age 82, of Appomattox. Roach was alert at the scene.

As of this report, Virginia State Police are currently uncertain if any charges will be filed until more information is gathered.

Also arriving at the scene were Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department Engine 3, the Virginia State Police, the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office, and K Moe Towing Company of Appomattox.
