Approximately 187 motorcycles converged on Appomattox to take a rest Friday, June 24, during the fifth annual American Legion Riders Legacy Run. The bikers stopped at the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park (ACHNHP) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a good meal and to take in the scenery.
The purpose of the Legacy Run, which travels to various locations throughout Virginia and West Virginia, is to raise funds for scholarships for children of United States military veterans killed or severely disabled in the war or terrorism. The riders go to locations that have American Legion Posts.
