Class of 2022 Appomattox Raiders softball pitcher Courtney Layne, a member of the back-to-back Class 2 State Champion Raiders, and the 2022 VHSL Class 2 Player of the Year, added yet another team championship to her softball resume.

Layne plays Travel Ball for Team North Carolina, led by head coach Nathan Eaton. Team NC won the Louisville Slugger Independence Day Tournament in Boulder, Colo.
