On Saturday, Oct. 30, starting at 6:30 p.m., the Appomattox County Militia will join a Trick or Trunk event in Iceland’s parking lot, (the Farmer’s Market) on Old Court House Road in Appomattox, across from Triangle Plaza.
In conjunction with Candlelight Ministries, an Appomattox-based Food Pantry for the Elderly in the greater Lynchburg area, the Appomattox County Militia will be conducting a Food Drive, collecting non-perishable food items, for distribution to Appomattox County residents in need. The militia will participate in the Trick or Trunk event as well, handing out candy for Halloween.
The militia encourages the public to join in on the Trick or Trunk event by participating or attending with their children. To participate, contact Iceland’s through Facebook messenger for more information.
Many elderly residents are on an even tighter budget now and many have to choose between paying for food or medication. The public is invited to help the militia to help them. Don’t forget to bring a non-perishable food item(s) to help at the Food Drive and stock the militia’s local food pantry.
