This morning in Appomattox County Circuit Court, jury trial dates were set for four of the five co-defendants charged in the Oct. 20, 2020 murder of 45-year-old Bedford resident Carlos L. Rose.

Rose's charred remains were found in a burned vehicle that was abandoned near the intersection of State Park Road and Forbes Road in the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. It was determined by investigators that Rose had been shot to death prior to the vehicle being set ablaze.

The trials dates for Mik'Tavis Elonta Green, of Prospect, and Keyanta Ke'Shaun Robinson, of Madison Heights, are scheduled for Nov. 2-4.

The trial dates for Enrico A. Moss, of Appomattox, and Montel Shaquille Croner, of Concord, are scheduled for Jan. 11-12, 2023.

The fifth co-defendant, Artenna Kainna Horsley-Robey, of Lynchburg, had her case continued until Nov. 10, at which time a trial date is expected to be set.

Circuit Court Judge Andy Nelson denied a defense motion by attorney Craig Tiller to suppress a potentially self-incriminating comment allegedly made by Robinson following an interview with Appomattox County Sheriff's Department investigators after the recorded interview had ended. Nelson explained that Robinson had already invoked his right to not speak without an attorney present and therefore the alleged comment to the investigators is admissible.

All of the co-defendants, except for Croner, are charged with first degree murder among other charges. Croner is free on terms of bond and is considered to be an accessory to the crime.
