Appomattox County Public Schools will reopen to in-person learning on Jan. 11; however, the schedule and instructional model will be changed temporarily.
All schools will be using the Split Schedule Hybrid Model (see chart in photographs). While AMS and ACHS will resume their same schedule, APS and AES students will change from attending four days a week to attending two days on the same East/West schedule as AMS and ACHS.
"Using this model will ensure we have enough staff to cover all student learning and supervision needs while the number of healthy staff is in flux," said ACPS Superintendent Dr. Annette Bennett. "To assist parents and staff in planning, we commit to this scheduling model from January 11 through January 22. It is our intention to use this model temporarily. We will continue to monitor the situation daily and re-visit the possibility of returning to a four day schedule for Pre K-5 as we get closer to the end of this two week timeframe."
