On Sept. 21, Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA) high school students visited Lynchburg City Hall as part of their American Government class. There, they met with Mayor Stephanie Reed and Vice Mayor Chris Faraldi. The students were also able to meet with the City Planning Commissioner and were taken on a tour of downtown Lynchburg. They learned about the history of a few of the buildings and landmarks.
After returning to City Hall, the Mayor and Vice Mayor escorted the students into the City Council Chambers. Vice Mayor Faraldi explained the duties of a Councilman, the role of local government and told a few stories about Lynchburg’s history. Mayor Reed described the duties of a mayor and then introduced the students to Mitchell Nuckles, Lynchburg’s Commissioner of the Revenue. Mr. Nuckles explained his duties and how he assesses the taxes of the city in a timely manner.
