The Appomattox Town Council workshop meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 25, featured an update of the Old Courthouse Road Smart Scale project as presented by Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) representatives Anthony Revelle and Brian Casto.

They discussed changes to the project, which involves the reconstruction of Route 131 to improve safety.

Revelle said that 16 light poles by Dominion will be moved within the next few weeks. Shentel and Verizon will move their fibers as well at this time. The wrap-up of this phase should be complete by September, and the next phase of construction will begin. The contractor will do the other utility work during construction.
