People of all ages in Appomattox County never know for sure which organization will be the next to go above and beyond in giving back to the community. One organization and its people took a leadership role recently to ensure the county’s more experienced citizens were able to have some fun. At Spout Spring Ruritan Club, volunteers were working non-stop, senior citizens were feasting, and people were forming lifelong connections.

On Saturday, June 10, the Spout Spring Ruritan Club hosted Senior Citizen Day, a proud event for the entire Appomattox community.

“This event is always a special time for us because it gives us an opportunity to give back just a little to those that have given so much,” said Senior Citizen Day Committee Chairperson at the Spout Spring Ruritan Club Aileen T. Ferguson.

Senior Citizen Day honored the contributions of the many devoted senior citizens, promoted the youth’s willingness to volunteer, and enhanced the Spout Spring Ruritan Club.
