Domestic Violence Awareness vigil held in Appomattox

“Love doesn’t hurt, and love shouldn’t hurt,” was April Rasmussen’s message at the 2021 Domestic Violence Awareness Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, Oct. 28 at Courtland Festival Park in Appomattox.

Rasmussen is the manager of the Forensic Nurse Examiner Program in the area and said “just this month, we have seen 90 patients.”

October has been slated as Domestic Violence Awareness month since 1989, and the YWCA Domestic Violence Prevention Program and the Appomattox Victim Witness Program hosted the annual candlelight vigil.
