Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash in Appomattox County. The crash occurred June 5 at 12:19 p.m. on Route 460, a mile west of Spruce Drive.

A 2012 Honda NC700X motorcycle was traveling east on Route 460 when it ran off the right side of the highway and struck the guardrail.

The motorcyclist, Eric A. Leinheiser, 31, of Buckingham, was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.
