Death Valley Ranch Show Pigs, located in the Vera community of Appomattox County, won two high honors with boar studs at the State Fair of West Virginia held Aug. 8-17 in Lewisburg, West Virginia.

They received first place in Grand Champion Hampshire Boar as well as second place in Reserve Champion Spot Boar.

This farm raises pedigree English bred pigs and crossbreds for local kids, 4-H, and FFA, as well as replacement pigs for breeding and meat.

Robert Mott has been doing this with help of wife Theresa for four years, and have won top honors with their Hampshire pigs since 2021.

“We owe out wins to God first, and hard work and dedication for these animals,” Mott said. “Now on to Maryland State Fair.”
