Golf fundraiser held in honor of late Dr. Harvey

Appomattox Family Dentistry recently held a golf tournament fundraiser in honor of its late founder, Dr. Paul Harvey, and donated the funds to one of Harvey’s most lasting legacies in Appomattox.

Harvey, former mayor and town councilman of Appomattox, died in October 2020. He founded Appomattox Family Dentistry in January 1999.

On Oct. 23, the inaugural Paul Harvey Open, created by the current owners of Harvey’s dental practice and played at Falling River Country Club in Appomattox, raised $10,500 and donated the money Thursday to the Courtland Festival Park Foundation Board. Courtland Festival Park was perhaps Harvey’s signature accomplishment during his 12-year tenure as mayor.
