Laura Dawson of the Appomattox Vintage and Artisans Market is collaborating with Nima Bell’s Cottage to host a Shop the Block event. Shop the Block is set for this weekend, Oct. 10 and 11. The goal is to bring business to the Downtown Appomattox area.

With Railroad Festival canceled for 2021, Dawson said they were trying to figure out a way to bring business downtown this time of year.

Outdoor vendors, live music and food trucks will be available at Nima Bell’s Cottage, pending weather. From there, visitors to Appomattox can walk down the street to the Appomattox Vintage and Artisans Market. It will be the 9-week market’s grand opening weekend.

Shop the Block runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11.
