The Appomattox Middle School boys and girls cross country teams competed in Altavista on Wednesday.

The girls team was led by Elly Nash, who placed first overall on the 2.1 mile course in a time of 17:22. She was followed by Julie Goodman (19:04) and Audrey Lovins (19:51).
The boys team was led by Clay Hamilton, who was also first overall on the 2.1 mile course in a time of 14:02. He was followed by Kaden Kessler (16:02), Lucas Hunter (17:13), Logan Shapard (18:07), Christain Goodman (18:39), Wiley Hamilton (20:01) and Noah Richardson (22:55).
Madison Martin placed second overall in the girls 3.1 mile varsity race in a time of 23:54 and Ryan Ghee had a personal best time of 25:16 on the 3.1 mile course.
