The Appomattox Raiders girls outdoor track and field team earned second place at Thursday's Region 2C Championships in Christiansburg.

The Raider girls came close to winning the event with 146.5 total points, just shy of the 151 points put up by Floyd County.

Harmony Troxler won two events for the Raiders: the long jump (17-4) and the triple jump (36-1). Nadiyah Abdussalaam won the pole vault (8-6).

The Appomattox boys finished 11th overall with only three participants attending the event, according to the MileStat website.

Appomattox will compete at the Class 2 state championships on June 3 at James Madison University.
