The Appomattox Raiders and Chatham Cavaliers met in a Dogwood District girls basketball clash Friday night at Appomattox County High School. 

Chatham entered the game atop the Dogwood standings at 6-1, while Appomattox was in third place at 3-2, just a half game behind William Campbell at 4-2. 

Chatham held the lead most of the game and would prevail over Appomattox 35-28. However, the Raiders made a serious comeback attempt spurred by their defensive efforts. 

The Raiders (6-10) visited Dan River on Tuesday. The score will be updated in next week’s Times Virginian.
