This Week from Del. Matt Fariss

Last Wednesday the Virginia House of Delegates held the first of three Courts of Justice and Public Safety hearings virtually, in preparation for the Special Session on Aug. 18. This first meeting dealt with Law enforcement policies, procedures and response, accreditation and certification. 

There were presentations and discussions and Q&A with the Virginia State Police, Virginia Sheriffs’ Association, American Civil Liberties Union, Norfolk Chief of Police, Herndon Chief of Police and a military expert. We also heard from the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus, Black Lives Matter, the Sheriff of Newport News and the Police Benevolent Association as well as several public comments.
