The Veterans and Athletes United Global War on Terror Memorial Flag will be on display on Court Street in Appomattox on Saturday, Oct. 9 and Friday, Oct. 10 during the Railroad Day commemoration. The mission of Veterans and Athletes United is to empower wounded, injured and ill veterans to fully live their lives and to honor our fallen military heroes.

Designed by Captain James Howard, U. S. Army (retired), the flag is composed of over 7,000 dog tags of military personnel who have been killed in the War on Terrorism since 2001.
