The Appomattox Raiders volleyball team remained undefeated at 8-0 as they swept the Altavista Colonels in three sets (25-9, 25-21, 25-18) Monday night at Appomattox County High School and also defeated William Campbell on Tuesday night on the road in three sets (25-14, 25-8, 25-12).
Appomattox held all of the early momentum Monday as they jumped out to a first set 11-1 lead. Altavista struggled early defending Raider shots and in misfiring return shots that sailed high and out of bounds.
The Colonels regrouped and went on a five-point run to make the score 13-6 with Macy Shelton serving until the Raiders turned the tables and went on their own five-point run highlighted by strong kill shots from Aubrey Fulcher and Kaydence Gilbert. Madison Shirey added two more solid kills to up the Raider lead to 24-9.
