Position Announcement
Law Enforcement Deputy Sheriff
The Appomattox County Sheriff's Office is looking for a qualified candidate for Law Enforcement Deputy Sheriff.
Duties Include, but are not limited to:
Provides law enforcement for Appomattox County;
Be a respresentatve of the sheriff;
Report to shift supervisor and /or other ranking officers;
Answer and investigate complaints of the citizens;
Provides traffic enforcement for Appomattox County;
Conduct criminal investigations and follow up on complaints;
Prepare written reports accurately and timely;
Prepares cases to present and make court appearances as necessary;
Serve civil process and other legal process;
Execute criminal warrants;
Conduct crime prevention patrol to include checking security of buildings;
Preform office maintenance at discretion of a supervisor;
Ensure routine maintenance of assigned vehicle is performed;
Ensure assigned equipment is maintained in operational readiness;
Perform any other duties designated by a supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
1.Age 21
2.High school graduate or equivalent.
3.Passing a written examination.
4.Passing an extensive background investigation, to include a drug screen
5.Passing an interview.
6.Passing a physical examination
7.Be of good moral character.
8.Any other standards se by law (Virginia Code 15.2-1705) or by policy of the Criminal Justice Services Board.
9.Possess a valid Virginia operator's license
The minimum starting salary for this position in $35,824 annually.
