Continued claims for unemployment insurance in Central Virginia grew by approximately 2.2 percent between the weeks of May 2 and May 9, according to the most recent data released by the Virginia Employment Commission.
Data shows that claims in Appomattox County totaled 52 for the week of May 9, up slightly from the 49 claims filed the week of May 2 but down from 83 thr week of April 25.
