The Town of Pamplin City is hosting a Trunk or Treat event Saturday, Oct. 31, for kids 12 and under at the Pamplin Depot’s parking lot. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (or earlier if they run out of candy).

Trick or treaters are invited to come all dressed up in constumes.

“This is something we put together hoping to give kids a little something to look forward to,” said Vicky Dean at last Tuesday’s council meeting.

She expressed that much has been taken away from kids in 2020 and said both parents and kids alike are going stir-crazy with being cooped up this year.

“There are a lot of kids right now that are going through anxiety and who are on medication because of this stuff,” said Dean, wanting to give kids something positive amid the turmoil of 2020.

Dean said the Trunk or Treat event will come with safety measures such as social distancing.

Several community entities have already committed to participating in the Trunk or Treat event, including but not limited to the local Pamplin Volunteer Fire Department, various churches, the town and Pamplin Area Legacy Supporters.

Dean said that anyone else interested in joining should let her know by today, Oct. 20.
