Appomattox County Commissioner of the Revenue Sara Henderson was recognized and honored at Monday’s Appomattox County Board of Supervisors meeting.
Essex County Commissioner of the Revenue Tommy Blackwell appeared before the board to present Henderson with the Sam T. Barfield Excellence Award.
Henderson received the award at the Commissioner of the Revenue Association’s virtual conference. The room at the county meeting was filled with Henderson’s family, friends and colleagues who sat in the audience to show their support.
The award is named after Sam T. Barfield, who was the Norfolk Commissioner of the Revenue for 28 years. Barfield served in WWII and was at Iwo Jima.
