Magic Mailbox

Marleigh puts her postcard to Santa into the library’s Magic Mailbox.

So many beautiful photos were submitted in the Library’s Appomattox Photo Contest, it was so hard to choose just one winner in our three categories. But choose we did, so we would like to congratulate the following winners.

In the nature category the winner was Tamara Lewis. In the historic category the winner was Rick Myers. In the general category the winner was Tiffany Wilson. Amanda Bailey entered a goat photo that was so funny and popular that we made a fourth category: the Goat Prize!

Thank you to everyone who participated, and to the Appomattox 1865 Foundation for the donation toward the prizes, paper models of the Charles Sweeney Cabin, Jennings Connor & Missouri Sweeney Cabin, and the Meeks General Merchandise buildings. We would also like to thank the Appomattox County Library Association for their contribution to the prizes.

Do you believe in the magic of Christmas? The staff of the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library does! On Monday, Nov. 16, the library put out a magic mailbox in the Children’s section.

Santa Claus has special postcards to pick up and fill out so that he can receive wish lists from those that believe in the spirit of Christmas. He will get them delivered, via magic, right to his desk, in his office at the North Pole.

Santa asks that you drop off your postcards to the library by Friday, Dec. 18, at 5 p.m., so he can get them in the “nick” of time for Christmas.
