Another write-in candidate for the Appomattox County School Board has announced the intention to run in the November elections. Rich Gehan is vying for the Appomattox River District seat, currently held by Vice-Chair Wyatt Torrence.

Gehan, who is employed as a CNC machinist at AMG in Forest, is concerned about the trends he sees in public school systems across the nation, as well as the recent lawsuit brought against the Appomattox County School Board and others in regard to a transgender student whose parent was allegedly not notified by the school district before other alleged circumstances unfolded.

“We’ve got a severe indoctrination in the public schools; this is happening all over the country,” Gehan said. “(Gender identity) is an issue for counselors, for pastors, priests, that kind of thing.
