Single-vehicle wreck on Oakville Road

UPDATE: Tuesday, July 13, 10:30 a.m.

Authorities have confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle acciddnt Monday night on Oakville Road in Appomattox. The vehicle struck a power line pole. The name of the deceased individual has not yet been released.

Emergency crews are at the scene of a single-vehicle accident that occurred around 8:30 p.m. on the southbound lane of Oakville Road (State Route 26) in Appomattox near the intersections of Kelly Creek Lane and Log Cabin Road. 

Appomattox County Emergency Dispatch had originally reported a vehicle that overturned and was on fire at the location, and also reported an entrapment. 

The vehicle had went over an embankment and sustained heavy damage. Traffic at the location is being slowed down by traffic control. 

The Times Virginian is waiting to verify any further information made available in regard to the accident. 

At the scene at the time of this report is the Appomattox Rescue Squad, Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department, Appomattox County Sheriff's Office and Virginia State Police.
