Twenty-six student-athletes from Appomattox County High School, including 21 football players, attended a recent Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Camp at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg.
The event took place June 27 through July 1, with around 280 athletes and over 100 coaches attending from Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. Some of the other local schools represented were Liberty High School, Liberty Middle School, Heritage and Jefferson Forest. There were no bus rides as the participants traveled separately.
Appomattox Raiders varsity football head coach Doug Smith, who recently wrapped up treatment at the Duke Cancer Center for a plasma cell cancer named multiple myeloma, made an appearance at the camp as well.
