On Monday evening Concord Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) Company 13 and Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD) were dispatched for a residential structure fire Winery Lane in Concord at approximately 8 p.m.

First arriving units found heavy fire showing from the charlie delta corner (the back, right side). Crews immediately made an aggressive interior attack and conducted a primary search.

Crews initially got a good knock on the fire but were quickly forced to evacuate the building due to water supply problems.

Once the water supply was fully established, crews again attempted to control the fire, however the fire had grown at such a rapid pace the fire could not be contained.

Crews transitioned into a defensive attack and worked to keep the fire from spreading to a nearby structure.

No was injured and all residents made it safely out of the building.

The cause of the blaze has not benn reported as of press time.

Units on scene from CVFD were: Engine 13-2, Tanker 13-4 , Tanker 13-3, Brush 13-7, and Command 13.

AVFD units on scene were Company 10, Company 12, Company 14, Company 15, and Company 17.

Also assisting were the Monelison Fire Department, Pamplin Fire Department and the Concord Rescue Squad.
