The hot topic of the April 18 Appomattox Board of Supervisors meeting was the board’s decision on the Special Event Permit Application submitted by Amy and Brooklyn Ward for a “Fly High 420 Festival” scheduled Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23.
This event would have be held at 451 Hawk Lane, Pamplin, and would be a music event and celebration of life event to celebrate the upcoming marijuana growing season, and in remembrance of Alex Johnson, who took his own life on Dec. 30, 2021. However, the board unanimously denied the permit.
This permit application was previously reviewed and approved by the Appomattox Public Safety director, building official, sheriff, zoning administrator and county administrator.
