Appomattox FFA Alumni Association scholarships awarded

APPOMATTOX, Va. – The Appomattox FFA Alumni Association recently awarded three Appomattox County High School graduates with scholarships. All recipients were current FFA members of the Appomattox Senior FFA chapter.

Bruce Jones II is the son of Bruce and Joanne Jones of Concord. Jones served as a chapter officer, competed in numerous Career Development Events (CDE), and was a national finalist in the Specialty Crop Production Proficiency Award. Jones plans to pursue a degree in agribusiness at Southside Community College.

Taylor Smith is the daughter of Della Roberts of Appomattox. Smith was an active member of the equestrian CDE teams. She raised several breeding and market animal projects for local and state livestock shows. Smith has enrolled in the pre-veterinary program at Sweet Briar College.

Shannon Coleman is the daughter of James and Monica Coleman of Prospect. Coleman was active in the Horticulture and Floriculture program. She also played important roles in FFA agricultural literacy activities. She has enrolled in the nursing program at Liberty University.
