On Thursday evening, an Appomattox County family was reportedly displaced after a wall collapsed into the basement of their residence on U.S. Route 460 West near the New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Appomattox Fire Chief Jonathan Garrett confirmed with the Times Virginian that part of the foundation "on the front side of the home fell into the basement."

The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family.

Caution tape has been placed around the structure.
