Concord Fire Department responds to Paradise Lake camper fire, Oxford Furnace Road ATV accident
At 2:26 a.m. today, Concord Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched into Appomattox County at Paradise Lake for an electrical fire in a camper. Engine 13-1 (with 2) and Tanker 13-3 (with 1) responded. Engine 13-1 arrived to find nothing showing and began investigating, finding a faint haze of smoke and the smell of electrical burns.
Crews scanned the camper with a thermal imaging camera searching for heat. Crews located the source of the heat and smoke, extinguished the burning wires and disconnected all power sources. The camper was monitored after the wires were extinguished to make sure all heat sources cooled down before clearing.
