The Appomattox County Public Schools have been closed since March 16 and will remain closed for the rest of the academic school year due to Gov. Ralph Northam’s shutdown order to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Despite the fact that residents of the county haven’t seen any activity at the four school buildings, buses transporting children in the early mornings and mid-afternoons, and student-athletes competing in the sports facilities, the county’s tax dollars that fund the schools are nevertheless being put to use.
ACPS Superintendent Annette Bennett assures county residents that plenty of activity is still taking place, although in a highly different manner than normal.
