On May 14, Kristy Leigh Ratliff, 35, of Appomattox, pleaded guilty via video feed in Appomattox County Circuit Court to felony charges of distribution of a Schedule I or II drug, and receiving or buying stolen goods.
Ratliff was sentence to serve four years on the drug charge, which will run concurrently with a prior four-year sentence. On March 5, Ratliff had been sentenced to serve four years on a felony charge of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine with another 16 years suspended. The sentence is to be served through the therapeutic community under direction of the Virginia Department of Corrections.
Sixteen years of suspended time were added to the May 14 sentence. One additional year of suspended time was included on the stolen goods conviction.
According to evidence, Ratliff received a stolen power washer in exchange for methamphetamine on June 13, 2019. Ratliff’s partner in the transaction, not named, was part of a theft ring and was arrested when police found stolen items at his residence when executing a search warrant.
Investigators then obtained a search warrant for Ratliff’s residence and found the power washer and illegal drugs. Ratliff was arrested the same day as the transaction.
Court records show that Ratliff has a long history of drug-related convictions going back to 2009.
