On Friday, eighth grade students from Appomattox Middle School paid a visit to Appomattox County High School for what is called “Raider Ready Day.” The event is a preparation and preview for what the eighth graders can expect when they move on to the next level of education in ninth grade.
At Thursday’s meeting of the Appomattox County School Board, Dr. Amy Huskin, the director of curriculum, instruction and CTE at Appomattox County Public Schools, presented a video that featured high school students describing how their involvement in specific CTE (Career and Technical Education) courses has assisted them in developing skills that will help them in future careers.
CTE offers hands-on experience in a variety of technical and labor-intensive fields. Among the courses featured in the video were commercial graphic design for businesses, auto tech, nursing, agriculture (FFA), child development, CST (Computer System Technology) and culinary arts.
