Appomattox County 4-H will again be offering after-school and specialty clubs as well as events during the year, for youth to participate in. Listed below are the programs in place, there will also be announcements of possible new clubs forming, as well as other upcoming events.

Appomattox 4-H Archery Club – This club will meet on Monday, after school. Please call the Extension Office 352-8244, if you are interested.

Fun With Foods – This after-school program is for those who enjoy cooking, and would like to learn some new skills. Open to ages 9-13, meetings will be held on the 3rd Thursday of the month, from 3:30-5:00pm. The 2021-2022 season will start September 16th and end in May. The cost for this program is $7/class, to cover food and cooking item expenses. Please call the Extension Office to register.

Appomattox 4-H Livestock Club – Youth in this club will learn about: Animal husbandry, Livestock Production (for meat and other uses), as well as have some field trips, guest speakers, and could participate in some shows. Please give the Extension Office a call at 352-8244. This club is for ages 9 and up, and they do not have to own an animal. This club meets on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month (starting in October), with extra dates TBA. Please call the Extension Office 352-8244, if you are interested.

Appomattox 4-H Handbell Club – If your child loves music, and being part of a dynamic team, then this club is for them! Members in this club will learn how to read music and play handbells. There will be a minimum of 2 public performances. This club meets Wednesdays, afterschool, at Appomattox Courthouse Presbyterian Church (behind AMS). Youth must be at least in the 4th grade. Appomattox 4-H Horse & Pony Club - Open to ages 9 and up. This is an active club that learns about care, riding, and showing of horses. Club meets monthly on Mondays at 6pm at Rockin R Ranch in Appomattox. Starting September 20th. Please call the Extension Office 352-8244, for more information.

Appomattox 4-H Pet Care Club – This is a new club and more details on a start date and meeting location will be sent out to those interested. Please call the Extension Office 352-8244, if your child is interested.

4-H is an informal, practical, learn-by-doing, fun and educational program for boys and girls, ages 9 through 19, from all racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds. Membership is open to allyouth in this age range without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, gender, or religious affiliation. The mission of 4-H is to assist youth and adults working with those youth to gain additional knowledge,life skills, and attitudes that will further their development as self-directing, contributing and productive members of society.  Call the Extension Office at 352-8244, or e-mail Bonnie Tillotson at  btillots@vt.edu .
