I watch a lot of TV hunting and fishing shows. I set the DVR up to record most of them. Now that the first of the year is here, the TV shows are featuring more fishing shows than hunting. I, for one ,am glad of this. Anything to do with crappie fishing I watch it. I watch all that I can, whether it’s catching crappie through the ice or inside a patch of lily pads. I have a note pad with me, and just like every other fishermen, once I see they caught a crappie through the ice, I want to know what they used to catch the crappie. It may take several freeze frames on the DVR but sooner or later I will get to see what they caught it on.
Seldom do the fishermen ever say or show what the size of the jig head weighs or what color they are using. Sometimes you can see the lure up close and that’s when I write it down. We know that in wintertime the bite is very slow. As you watch these shows you can see that the lure is very small. The jig head may be 1/64th of an ounce. That is a small jig head, but it works. I have them in my tackle box along with 1/80th of an ounce also.
