We would like to thank everyone who has participated in our holiday outreach and fundraisers. Without your participation these programs would not be the success they are. The gifts for Elves for Elders has been picked up and will be distributed in the next two weeks to spread comfort and joy to senior citizens in Appomattox.
The ACLA (Appomattox County Library Association) winter popup book sale is now over, but they are still hosting their winter raffle until Friday, Dec. 17. It is not too late to come take a chance on this fantastic farm tin full of items to give you the warm fuzzies.
The St. Anne’s food bank and gift collection for children up through 18 years of age will be available to donate until Friday, Dec. 17. Please remember those less fortunate in Appomattox and consider making a donation to help local families in need.
For last Wednesday’s (Dec. 8), Preschool Story & Craft Time, an ACLA volunteer read the book “Clifford’s First Christmas” by Norman Bridwell. We iced Christmas cookies for our craft project and ate them as our snack along with some punch. Our next Story & Craft Time will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15, hosted by the Robert E. Lee Soil and Water Conservation District as they read the story “Winter is Here” by Kevin Henkes. There will be no Story & Craft Time on Wednesday, Dec. 22.
On Tuesday, Dec. 14, the library hosted our monthly program “Library For All,” open to patrons of all ages, all skill levels and all abilities. Those that participated had the opportunity to make Christmas tree ornaments and ice Christmas cookies to enjoy.
Don’t forget to join us on Thursday, Dec. 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for “Cookies With Santa.” Old St. Nick will be here in person, to hear last-minute Christmas wish lists, and enjoy cookies, of course! Parents, don’t forget to bring your cameras. We would like to thank ACLA for helping provide the cookies and beverages for this event from their fundraising efforts.
In observance of the Winter Holidays the library will be closed from Thursday, Dec. 23 through Saturday, Dec. 25. We will reopen for normal business hours on Monday, Dec. 27. We will also be closed for the New Year on Friday, Dec. 31, and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. We will reopen on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022. You may return all library-owned materials to the book depository located at the back of the building.
