Local couple succeeding in music industry

Vernell Mitchell presented a new record for Appomattox Mayor S.R. Lawson’s “records,” but this time he has hi-fi and stereo in mind. Rann Record Company, in Nashville, Tenn., has just released “Walking With You On My Mind” and “Please Tell Me.” Mitchell, composer and performer for the 45 rpm disc, tells Dr. Lawson that the record will be on sale in Appomattox in a few days. Mrs. Mitchell wrote lyrics for “Please Tell Me.” Next time you put a stack of records on the turntable, you can hear a local artist and composer. The Mitchells have a whirlwind tour of the Nashville music capital as Vernell cut tapes and the master disc. Vernell plans to continue writing. No, he doesn’t plan to let his hair grow to Beatles length.
