Practicing what we preach, continued education! MaKayla Harvey, aka the Library Fairy, has earned her certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), through the Appomattox County Rescue Squad. This nationally-recognized certification allows her to further help her community. Want to explore an educational venue that the library has to offer? Visit us online at www.jrjml.org/online and scroll down to universal classes. Get a jump on your own career, sign up and get access to over 500 courses. If you go through the Jamerson Library’s website all courses will be available for free, as a service provided by Library of Virginia.
We would like to remind patrons that with the rise of local COVID cases we have temporarily suspended all in-person program. We will continue to be open during normal business hours. Masks are recommended but not required at this time, and we will continue to offer curbside service and free Wi-Fi in our parking lot, depending upon the ability of your devices.
The library will continue to provide socially-distanced interactive programs, of an educational, entertaining, or informational nature to help our patrons keep their minds and hands occupied. Be sure to visit our social media accounts often for the latest postings and updates. When you come to our front desk be sure to ask for a craft project to go, or a sweet treat, one per person.
We would also like to remind those that make use of our conference room that it is time to fill out a new “Facility Use Permit” for 2022. The conference room must be booked during normal business hours and all meetings must be concluded at the time the Library closes.
It is not to late to be set up for a “Blind Date” at your local library! Come to the circulation desk and select a wrapped book, take it home and read it. It is yours to keep. Parents, please be advised that these are romance books, and some of them may be of a mature nature. One book per adult patron, per visit. We will continue to host this program through Tuesday, Feb. 15, or until we run out of books, whichever comes first.
Have you taken a chance on our “SHOUT OUT TO SCOUT” free raffle? The raffle is open to all patrons in celebration of our return to TLC (The Library Cooperation) catalog software. Who is Scout? Scout is the TLC puppy mascot that you could win along with a tin of butter cookies and holiday candy. The raffle winner will be announced Friday, Jan. 28.
