Anne Cabell Giles passed away in Blackstone, Virginia on January 23, 2022, at the age of 91 years old. She grew up on Clifton Farm on the James River, graduated from Appomattox High School, and spent most of her life running Giles Store near Concord, VA. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was an active member of the community by working at voting polls, blood drives, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, and other charities. She was born in Stonewall, Appomattox County, VA to Guy Cabell and Valentine Cabell, both deceased, and was married to Melvin G. Giles, Sr. for 48 years before his death. She had one daughter, Carolyn Anne Giles, Appomattox, VA (deceased), and is survived by her son, M. Glenn Giles, Jr. of Vienna, VA. She had seven grand children: Christopher Maxwell, Roanoke, VA; Adam Giles, Leesburg, VA; Whitney Maxwell, Charlotte, NC; Garrett Cabell Giles, Vienna, VA; Robert Giles, Nellis Air Force Base, NV; Rachel Giles, Vienna, VA; and Annemarie Cabell Giles, Vienna, VA. She has five great grandchildren; Matthew Giles, Sutter Maxwell, Jethro Giles, Lane Maxwell, and Ellery Sullivan.
Visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg from 5 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday, February 1st. A private graveside service will be held the following day at Spring Hill Cemetery for the family.
