Now that winter sports practices and team tryouts are underway at Appomattox County High School, the hope is that COVID-19 will not force an interruption to the season as it did during the spring and fall.

To date, the requirement for spectator attendance at indoor events remains at 25 even though a Dec. 10 mandate by Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam limits social gatherings to 10 people, reduced from the 25 that had been in place.

The governor’s Executive Order 72 states, “For sports played indoors, spectators must be limited to 25 persons per field. For sports played outdoors, spectators are limited to two guests per player. The total number of spectators cannot exceed 30 percent of the occupancy load of the certificate of occupancy for the venue.”
