Raiders volleyball advances to Region 2C semifinal

The Appomattox Raiders volleyball team is one step away from earning the first trip to the state tournament in the history of the Appomattox County High School volleyball program. 

The undefeated Raiders (15-0) opened the 2021 Region 2C Tournament on Tuesday night with a three-set sweep (25-8, 25-17, 25-20) of their familiar Dogwood District opponent Dan River Wildcats. 

Appomattox will host the Glenvar Highlanders (18-3) Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. in the Region 2C Semifinal round. The winner will advance to the Region 2C Championship to be held Tuesday, Nov. 9. Both teams that play in the championship will qualify for the state tournament, win or lose. 

Raiders vs. Dan River recap

The Raiders’ playoff win over Dan River was their third of the season against the Wildcats in three matches. While the Wildcats had won one set in each of their regular season matchups against the Raiders, they were unable to score a set win Tuesday night.
