Appomattox County candidates for the offices of county sheriff, treasurer and board of supervisors attended the Appomattox County Republican Committee’s August business meeting at the New Geneva Library on Harrell Street to give a briefing on their platforms.

Donald Simpson (running for sheriff), Michael Gott (running for treasurer) and John Hinkle (Falling River District board of supervisors) addressed the room of approximately 20.

Candidate for sheriff Christopher Sams could not attend due to an injury and was among those who had sent a representative. On behalf of Sams, his wife, Donna Sams spoke to the room. Del. Matt Farris also sent a representative: his legislative assistant, Jenna Fulmer. It was reported that Vicky Phelps, the competing candidate for treasurer, was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict.
