With one wet nose and four legs each, the three new recruits of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office stand out from their colleagues on the force.
On Wednesday, Aug. 19, Sheriff Whit Clark revealed the new canine members of the CCSO, along with their professional handlers, thus fulfilling a promise made during his campaign.
“To have our own units out on the street, where we can utilize them quickly, is invaluable,” Sheriff Whit Clark said. “If one of our K-9’s saves one life, then the program has paid for itself time, and time over.”
The three dogs, Deeks, a Belgian Malinois, Dyson, a bloodhound, and Ranger, a german shepherd, each joined the ranks of the CCSO earlier this year, when the department worked with the community to help sponsor its newly re-established K-9 Unit. The three dogs specialize in drug detection, searching for missing people, and apprehensions.
