Appomattox County Public Schools (ACPS) are still set to begin in-person hybrid scheduled classes Sept. 15, with the Raider Remote all-virtual option beginning a week earlier this Tuesday, Sept. 8.
However, at Thursday’s meeting of the Appomattox County School Board, Superintendent Annette Bennett reminded everyone that being prepared for sudden schedule changes is vital depending on whether COVID-19 statistics improve or worsen.
Bennett pointed out that in a two-week span, from Aug. 13 to Aug. 27, positive COVID-19 cases rose by 57 in Appomattox County, from 93 to 150.
As of Tuesday, the Virginia Department of Health reports 172 positive tests in the county with nine people hospitalized since case reporting began in March.
